Tina Beaird is the owner of Tamarack Genealogy and is a Genealogy & Local History librarian at the Plainfield Public Library in Plainfield, IL. She holds a Masters of Library and Information Science degree with a specialization in Archives/Preservation from Dominican University. Tina has won multiple research and digitization grants to preserve and digitize historic documents and photographs.

Tri-City Genealogical Society General Meeting November 10

Tri-City Genealogical Society’s annual business meeting will be held via Zoom on November 10, 2021 at 7 p.m.  On the agenda is approval of the proposed budget for 2022 and election of a slate of officers.  After the completion of the business portion of the meeting we will be streaming the video Investigative Genetic Genealogy – the Use of DNA for Law Enforcement as presented by Diahan Southard.  Diahan was the featured speaker at a TCGS seminar several years ago.

Heritage Quest Research Library Online Sign Up Method for Zoom Classes

We wanted to share some exciting NEWS!
We have added the HQRL STORE to our webpage.  It’s a quick and easy way to sign up for our ZOOM Classes.
  Head to our webpage at hqrl.com. 
On the LEFT SIDE of the page you will see a list of options.  
SCROLL down the list to HQRL Store
CLICK on HQRL Store to open
Choose ZOOM/HQRL Classes and click to open
Choose which class you’re interested in and ADD TO CART.  You will be taken to Order Information page.  Here you can continue shopping, change the number of people attending or remove a class or empty your cart. This page also calculates the charges that will be made.  You may now CLICK on CHECKOUT.
If you are logged into the HQRL website as a member, your information will be automatically entered.  If not, you will need to enter your contact information on the Order Form.  We will then be able to contact you if there are any changes to the scheduled event.  
NEXT, choose your payment method.
When you CHECK the small box, a CODE # will appear, enter it in the required Box.  
CLICK on PLACE ORDER. You will receive an Order/Confirmation number and our Education Coordinator will receive your registration. 
To complete your ORDER, you must CLICK the “BUY NOW” button to make your payment.

Whatcom Genealogical Society Make Progress in Your Genealogy Research

At the November Whatcom Genealogical Society meeting Diana Elder, Professional Genealogist will present Part 2 of her presentation on “Make Progress in Your Genealogy Research:  Learn to Research Like a Pro.”

Try not to miss it on Monday, November 8, at 2 pm at our new meeting place, the Pioneer Pavilion, 2007 Cherry Street in Ferndale.  Doors open at 1:30.

A drawing will be held to win a free copy of Diana Elder’s book “Research Like a Pro:  A Genealogist’s Guide.”

It was wonderful to see everyone in person last month, so please join us.  Don’t forget your mask!

SGS has successfully moved our library to the Good Shepherd Center and will open soon for your research use. Meanwhile, at our former home on Sand Point Way there remain many, many books and periodicals that will not be making the move – and a few file cabinets, chairs, tables and bookcases as well. Don’t miss this chance to give some good books a new home!
