For 40 years Humanities Washington has offered the Speakers Bureau program, a roster of traveling experts who provide presentations on history, politics, music, philosophy, spiritual traditions, and everything in between. Organizations can host Speakers Bureau presenters as a way to offer rich programming that is relevant and engages a broad audience.

Mary Kircher Roddy frequently lectures in Washington State as well as at conferences across the US on methodology and records. She is a trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, one of the founders of the Applied Genealogy Institute, and is the co-editor of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly (NGSQ). She earned her certificate in Genealogy and Family History at the University of Washington.

This month our educational meetings resume on Tuesday October 8, at 6:00 pm in person at the Parkland/Spanaway Library and on Zoom at 6:15.
This month our educational program will be presented by Claudia C. Breland. Her presentation will be “Ancestry Pro Tools: Not Just for Professionals“. Looking at an initial version of the handout this promises to be a very useful and informative program that you won’t want to miss. Claudia has been doing genealogical research since 1974 and has been a professional genealogist since 2008. She has written several books, her most recent a genealogy mystery titled “Home to Beulah” that she discussed with our book club during the April 20th meeting.
Our meetings are held monthly except for July and August starting at 6:00 PM, Zoom comes live about 6:15 PM.

Tri-City Genealogical Society New and Improved Resources at FamilySearch
Please join us for Tri-City Genealogical Society’s October General meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9. TCGS member Margie Beldin will be presenting on New and Improved Resources in the Website of FamilySearch Family Tree. FamilySearch maintains a collection of records, resources, and services designed to help people learn more about their family history.
On November 13 TCGS will be having our annual business meeting followed by a presentation to be determined. The Society’s budget for 2025 will need to be approved by the general membership along with the slate of officers for 2025. Please contact any board member if you would like to be nominated for any of the board positions.
