August Membership Meeting

What Research Treasures are at the  Central Regional Branch Archives?
On August 9, WAGS will present a hybrid meeting with special guest Brigid Clift, Regional Branch Archivist at the State Archives in Ellensburg. She will share her screen and show us what’s been going on at her archives and digital archives. They have a project going with Ancestry.com that we’ll need to know about, and we’ll find out more about their volunteer-from-home program.
This will be a hybrid meeting: Those who are comfortable being in-person can join us at the Douglas PUD Auditorium (1151 Valley Mall Parkway, East Wenatchee); or you can continue to Zoom–you can be present either way!
Monday afternoon, August 9, 2021   2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society Genealogy Disaster Planning

Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society (WAGS) will hold its June meeting via Zoom on Monday, June 14, at 2:00 p.m. Email WAGSLibrarian@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link.
Our speaker is Julie Miller of JPM Genealogy Research in Broomfield, Colorado. She will give us “An Ounce of Prevention: Making a Genealogy Disaster Plan.” After seeing what happened in Texas last winter, and knowing our own ongoing wildfire threat, we decided to have a program focusing on planning for the worst. Our documents, photographs and databases can be lost in an instant in the event of a disaster. This lecture will show how to plan before the crisis occurs, so that loss is minimized and your genealogy legacy is preserved for future generations.

Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society May Meeting

Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society will have its May meeting via Zoom on Monday, May 10, at 2:00 p.m. (To receive Zoom information, contact WAGSLibrarian@gmail.com.)
Our program is “A Visit with Gorham Printing.” Gorham is a short-run (25 to 2000 copies) printer located in Centralia, Washington, serving self-publishing authors, historians, educators and families. They give personalized customer service for a “Made in USA” product! Find out more about their operation, and how they could help bring your writing project to life.

Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society’s April Meeting

The Wenatchee Area Genealogical Society’s April meeting will take place on Zoom on Monday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. New England genealogist Kathleen Kaldis will present Sense of Place: Local Landmarks and Genealogy. This will be a fun and light lecture on using current local landmarks to discover clues and context about your ancestors’ FAN clubs. It gets exciting when you can connect names in different states–Kathleen will show us how it played out with her ancestors.
Register at WAGSLibrarian@gmail.com, and you will soon receive the Zoom information. The Zoom info will also appear on our website: www.wags-web.org.
